Creative Development

Ready or not, problems rain on us. We have no choice but to address them.  A problem is a struggle between reality and expectations. Solving a problem might require avoidance, supply, elimination or research. When we face a problem or we need to flesh out a project from start to finish, the quality of the solution lies in the quality of our thinking

There are two kinds of thinking:

  1. Logical thinking, concerned with finding "right" solution to a problem.  It relies on logic and seeks an orthodox solution; it insists on conformity to pre-determined formulas, rituals, methods, steps, and procedures. The driver of logical or "convergent" thinking is "what is." Unfortunately, we can’t assume that because people do a good job of being compliant in their work, they will have the skills to be improvisational and inventive.

  2. Lateral Thinking or Creative Thinking, which follows new, divergent pathways to unusual or distantly associated answers.  It's concerned with generating many possible solutions.  This type of thinking has many different starting points and can change directions as needed to arrive to multiple solutions.  Lateral or creative thinking is concerned with "what can be."

Creative development work demands that we look for alternatives to established procedures (thinking "out of the box") to create new ways of defining performance criteria.  By practicing our creative thinking skills, we are able to become provocative, open-minded, practical, and inventive

Creative development is required for strategic planning, project planning, new product development, process redesign, marketing, graphic and new media design, e-commerce, operational problem solving and logistics planning.

Typical Uses of Creative Thinking

To Unblock our thinking pathway when we are stuck and we can't find viable solutions using existing methods

To Improve a situation, a design or a concept

To Find Opportunity by looking at an issue from multiple perspectives

To Map New Ventures

VIDEO: The Master of Creativity on Value Creation

DR. EDWARD DE BONO is the world's leading expert in creativity and the father of "lateral thinking."

In this video clip, Dr. de Bono emphasizes the central role of Value-creation in today's competitive global economy.  To illustrate his point further, here's an excerpt from his book: “Why I want to be king of Australia” by Edward de Bono, ISBN 0-14-028706-X Copyright © McQuaig Group, Inc. 1999

"In the future, I see a need for an entirely new profession: ‘the value designer’. Technology means that big companies do not need to take on more workers. Entrepreneurs are urged forward by their courage but limited by their ideas and available capital.  The Value Designer would seek to create value in society by putting things together in such a way that value was created and people might be willing to pay for that value."

We Focus on Innovation and Results

Effective creative development yields an outcome that it is both new and useful; that it is both unique and meets specific performance requirements. As David Ogilvy, the legendary advertising executive put it: "If it doesn't sell, it's not creative." We purposely strive to become "value designers" as described by Dr. de Bono.

We help you determine what resources your may need to develop creative concepts and solutions and meet the demands of the projects and opportunities you face.

Our experience in creative development work covers a diverse spectrum, including marketing and communications, new media, e-commerce, Web-based training, sports marketing and promotions, interactive sales tools, experience-based learning and highly complex events.
