Training to achieve and maintain The Ideal
Performance State (IPS)
IPS training
involves two major aspects:
1) Training stress
and recovery skills
Dr. Nicholas Hall,
eminent psychoneuroimmunologist, affirms that "stress does create
physiological changes, many of which are actually
triggered by emotional reactions to the stressor. Stress is something to
actively seek out, because as long as
it s balanced by an equal amount of recovery, your body and emotions are trained to withstand
the stress without experiencing injury." Stress is actually the stimulus that
enables growth and development
to occur. If we avoid physical and emotional linearity by creating stress
and recovery waves (energy
waves), we stimulate the mind/body complex and the immune system to become flexible,
responsive, strong and resilient under pressure.
2) Training
emotional and mental skills
When we act the way we
want to feel, the brain interprets such
behavior literally and reacts accordingly. To do this consistently, we need
to train mentally in a
systematic way. Having a broad perspective, practicing creative thinking and
exercising humor are the keys to
move our physiology from how we really feel to how
we need to feel on demand, under pressure. Through this training, we become
more "emotionally intelligent," for we are able to feel and express a wide
range of emotions, even if they are contradictory, in appropriate response
to the situation we are facing.
During IPS
Training you develop a
lifelong, personalized plan to achieve your goals. As the training process
progresses, you develop physical and mental "toughening"
- a
precise way of acting and thinking under pressure that increases your
capacity to bounce back faster from stress, endure heavier pressure loads
and find joy in your personal and professional areas of your life. [Watch Peak
