Project: Teambuilding for Fan and
Community Development Division of an NBA Team [Teambuilding - Facilitation] |
 |
|
The Client has an intensive promotional schedule that requires its staff to
perform almost every day of the year under physical and emotional pressure.
The NBA Team they represent is the most valuable and popular of the entire
franchise system. Their New York location is considered the one of the
premier event stages in the world, arguably the best known. As a
group, the division had never experience a teambuilding workshop, which gave
them the opportunity to express their problems, design solutions and
establish parameters to avoid burnout and loss of motivation. Their
extensive impact in the community they serve continues to grow and create
goodwill for the NBA team wherever they go. A focus on annual,
semi-annual and quarterly energy management will sustain the gains. |

Project: Team Integration Workshop for
Medical Corporation in Growth Phase [Teambuilding - Facilitation] |
| |
 |
|
The Client requested a highly-interactive workshop to promote communication
between virtual teams located at distant offices who exchange information
and procedures on a daily basis. The workshop facilitated the
recognition of the most salient issues related to providing "World-class
Service" to the patients through an Online Survey. The results of the
Survey became a platform to structure a four-phase exercise in which the
participants identified effective ways to improve communication, refine
service, increase revenue and support the rapid growth of the organization.
Short, mid and long-term commitments were made and logged for regular
monitoring. |

Project: Design of Corporate Strategy
[Facilitation - Speaking - Event Management] |
| |
 |
|
The Client required the organization of a Corporate Strategy Design meeting
for the CEO and the key partners to envision a new level of revenue growth.
The event took place in Lausanne, Switzerland. All participants
took the Myers-Briggs and the Belbin tests to identify the team's profile.
The results were shared and interpreted in reference to the group's
decision-making style. Carlos Salum gave a presentation on Peak
Performance to emphasize the skills shared by high-performing executives and
professional athletes. The methodology utilized to sketch the strategy
yielded a large number of new ideas, which were categorized and prioritized
for their value to the corporation's relationship with their clients.
A handful of ideas were selected for their potential to deliver exponential
growth. |

Project: Introduction of New CEO and
Division Alignment with Corporate Strategy [Teambuilding - Event Management] |
| |
 |
|
The Client requested a two-day teambuilding event to introduce the new CEO
to the Regional Division. The focus of the meeting was to foster
communication among executives from geographically scattered offices.
The new corporate strategy had to be explained and new, creative ideas were
required to implement it. The event took place at Le Mirador
Kempinksi Hotel in Mont Pelerin (Vevey), Switzerland.
The teambuilding agenda selected centered on the exploration of current
capabilities, possible improvements and commitments designed to achieve
"quick wins." The participants were divided in groups and asked to
create an original TV spot that represented their ultimate success within
three years. Carlos Salum gave a presentation on how to change
management and "future design." Outdoor meals overlooking Lake Geneva and
off-site activities contributed to generate camaraderie and interaction.
The event closed with a customized music video featuring all participants,
their humor and creativity. |

Project: Alignment of New International Team [Teambuilding- Event Management] |
| |
 |
|
The Client requested the design of an off-site meeting focused on
teambuilding. The purpose was to communicate the corporate strategy
and introduce new team members who came from four different organizations
that had been recently acquired.
The two-day event took place at the Victoria Jungfrau Hotel in
Interlaken, Switzerland. The agenda included intensive group
interaction through exploratory workshops and teambuilding exercises.
There was strong emphasis on sophisticated PowerPoint presentations, both
for explanatory and motivational reasons. Carlos Salum gave a
presentation on Performance Architecture to tie the theme of the event with
individual and team goals. The participants produced a "Letter from
the Future" to consolidate their commitments and an Action Plan to reflect
their alignment by global regions with the management strategy. A customized
music video featuring all participants and the development of the agenda
closed the event. |

Project: Support in the Creation
of an Exclusive Investment Club [Creative Development - Event Management] |
| |
 |
|
The Client requested a secluded,
upscale location to host a special event for twelve potential members of an
Exclusive Investment Club.
The Investors Club is a
community of “Wealthy Active Successful Entrepreneurs” that share common
goals, values and principles and want to jointly build a network of
contacts, resources, knowledge and visions. The Club, existing under the
umbrella of the Client's global financial network, is to become a basin of
trust and investment opportunities worldwide.
The two-day
event's theme was
"Beyond Wealth: Mind, Technology and the Creation of Wealth,"
based on the fact that
our
mind is the essential tool to generate wealth. The efficient use of our mind
leads to the discovery of new opportunities. Although each participant in
the Investors Club has a degree of economical power, the interaction with
other like-minded, economically powerful individuals might lead to the
development of new, breakthrough technologies and the creation of new
fountains of wealth.
The experts
invited to facilitate the meeting were:
-
Dr. Edward de Bono
(Chairman of
the event), creator of Lateral Thinking and author of 67 books
-
Dudley Lynch,
author of "The Strategy of the Dolphin "and "The Mother of All
Minds"
-
Richard Saul Wurman,
award-winning architect, author and creator of the TED Conferences
As a location,
we selected the Island of Tessera in Venice, Italy, owned by
Dr. Edward de Bono, who would act as Chairman of the event. We
partnered with Promostudio (representative of Dr. de Bono in Italy and
manager of Tessera Island) to coordinate all the local logistics. The
participants stayed at
Bauer Il Palazzo in San Marco (Member of
Leading Hotels of the World) and the dinners took place at restaurants Do
Forni and Antica Besseta.
The event will serve as a template for
future, larger meetings of the Investors Club. |

Project: Management of a Corporate Global
Conference [Event Management - Facilitation] |
|
|
 |
|
The Client requested a supervisory role of all aspects of a Global
Conference to take place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The 130
participants were members of the international staff and division managers.
The success of the event was of paramount importance, as the Client was
announcing a fundamental restructuring of the global business. The location selected
was the castle of Duin & Kruidberg, approximately an hour away from
Amsterdam. The agenda required time for management's presentations,
outdoor teambuilding activities and off-site corporate entertainment.
The agenda also demanded a strong emphasis on audiovisual technology
(complex PowerPoint presentations, instant audience voting, video-clips and a selection of upbeat
background music during breaks).
The outdoor teambuilding exercise selected consisted on the building of a
"Tower of Trust," in which the participants were divided in teams of 10 and
given written instructions to build a tower with materials divided between
two separate tents. The team of 10 was split into Designers, Lookers,
Runners, Suppliers and Builders. The information was to be transmitted
sequentially from the Designers to the Builders. After 45 minutes, all
the towers from all the teams would be tested for reliability. The
second phase of the exercise was the construction of a giant "Tower of
Trust" by all the Builders together, following the advice of their
respective teams. The entire teambuilding exercise was videotaped and
edited for a 12-minute presentation, which was shown at the end of the
program. SLT from Geneva, Switzerland was our outdoor teambuilding partner.
[Watch video of the event]
The corporate entertainment consisted of a cocktail during a boat trip on
the Amsterdam Canals, followed by dinner served at the world-famous
Rijksmuseum, facing the "The Night Watch" by Rembrandt van Rijn, while listening to a
Baroque music trio. |

Project: Advisory for the Development of a Financial Service for
European Sports Stars [Consulting - Facilitation] |
|
|
The Client
conducted extensive research on the European Sports market and concluded
that it had an opportunity to focus primarily on wealthy football and tennis
players, inviting them to make investments in Swiss accounts. Salum
International Resources was invited to participate as an advisor from the
start of the project, contributing its expertise in the professional tennis
market and the relationship with large sports management agencies. The
financial services concept's success relied on two aspects: access to the
sports stars and earning their trust. The sports stars would benefit
from the Client's extensive global network and the lifelong support provided
by its financial advisors, from promising performer to retired celebrity.
The business plan was approved by Headquarters and launched at the FIFA
Headquarters in Zurich, with the participation of Richard Krajicek, 1996
Wimbledon Champion and top financial managers. Carlos Salum was the
Master of Ceremonies and keynote speaker on "Winning in Sports applied to
Winning in Business." |

Project: Development of an Interactive
Financial Services' Sales Tool [Creative Development - Training] |
|
|
The Client needed an
engaging interactive presentation
to serve as a tool for
Relationship Managers to ascertain the investment profile and investment
needs of a potential client. The tool should also provide a bespoke
calculation facility for evaluating answers and results which will tailor
the presentation and generate the investment strategy and contract that best
meets the client’s particular needs. Salum International Resources was hired
to contribute its creative development capabilities working together
with the Client's financial specialists. We were also in charge of managing
the relationship with the software development agency (Best & Co., London).
The development timeline was estimated at 90 days. We developed a
three-phase approach and prepared the Site Map. We met in London with
the software developers and agreed on the "look and feel" for the tool.
The monitoring of the development process was based on weekly reporting and
testing. Our streamlined, elegant design facilitates the evaluation,
choice and up-selling of financial services in a short time. The launch of
the Interactive Sales Presentation was followed by training sessions in
several Swiss locations and Monaco. The concept was very successful
and received an internal innovation award at Headquarters in Amsterdam.

Project: Management of the Production of Global Marketing
Collateral Materials [Creative Development] |
|
|
The Client had
been developing a global marketing campaign for approximately one year.
The international marketing divisions did not agree on how to address key
regional issues, such as translations and images that would appeal to Europe
but not to Asia. At the time we were asked to help finalize the
project, the design directives had changed. The core elements of the
campaign had been designed in Amsterdam, but now a boutique London ad agency
was entrusted to continue. We met with the key marketing directors and
agreed to coordinate the final phase, which included: content
development, design supervision, printing instructions and monitoring the
quality of the deliverables. We took charge of the
translations of eight product brochures in full color into eight
different languages. The budget was adjusted to accommodate for a higher quality
of design and printing. We created a Web space where all the
international divisions and product specialists could follow the weekly
progress and provide direct feedback. The translations were tested
against colloquial uses of each language and the technical aspects of the
financial services' industry. The London agency (Best & Co.)
facilitated the process by providing excellent communication and original
ideas along the way. The project was finalized over four months, in
time for the Relationship Managers to sell new and improved financial
services. |

Project: Innovation Advisory for a Global
Financial Services' Web Portal [Creative Development - Facilitation] |
|
|
The Client decided
to build a Private Clients' Web Portal for the first time with a limited
budget. The Client conducted marketing research and made the decision
to hire a boutique Web development company based in Singapore. Salum
International Resources was hired to advise on possible innovation aspects.
First, we embarked on a Competitive Analysis process, studying the Web sites
of seventeen financial institutions in detail. Then, we conducted an
Innovation Workshop in Zurich, followed by two Focus Group tours throughout
three Swiss offices. The compiled results were the base for subsequent
research on exclusive, luxury services for High Net Worth Individuals which
could be delivered as "the icing on the cake" in addition to Web-based
financial services. Several of the luxury services were "live" events
for clients, while others were experiential and unique learning
opportunities, all of which will empower the Client's Web offer and create a
competitive advantage. |
